Conducting
Roger Cichy continues to be active as a conductor. He has conducted a wide number of All-States, Reginal/District Bands, Festival Bands, College/University Bands and Community Bands. As a guest conductor/composer-in-residence, Roger brings a unique perspective to his compositions that enlightens and engages musicians and audiences.
Guest Conducting
Whether it’s a full concert program of assorted works or an individual piece, Roger Cichy is always ready to step up on the podium and conduct. Roger’s experience as a conductor comes from years of conducting college ensembles while on faculty at The Ohio State University, the University of Rhode Island, Iowa State University and most recently, Providence College. Roger studied conducting with Professor Craig Kirchhoff while working on his Masters degree in music.
Composer-in-residence
The unique experience of the composer interacting with your ensemble is one that can exceed expectations. Roger Cichy provides ensembles with cherished experiences whether the residency is scheduled as a single day composer-in-residence, or multiple days. The interaction between composer and musician is the prime focus, and Roger will typically provide the ensemble with much inside information, showing sketches and manuscripts, and describing many of the details of the compositional process associated with his compositions.
