Amazing Grace (2008)
Grade 4 • 7:00 • published by Print Music Source
Performance: The American Band | Conductor: Dr. Brian Cardany
PROGRAM NOTES
Inspired by a girl’s love for her mother, who ultimately lost her courageous battle to cancer, composer Roger Cichy’s setting of the ever-popular American spiritual “Amazing Grace” is balanced with an original lullaby. Cichy chose this approach for this adaption to signify the mother’s spirit, represented by the lullaby, that continues in the hearts and minds of her family.
PERFORMANCE NOTES
Originally written to be performed with a vocal soloist, the piece can be performed without the vocal solo, as the part is cued in the 1st Trumpet. Additionally, an optional ‘Advanced’ Trumpet part has been included to provide a more artistic trumpet solo rather than the straight melody.
